CADS Vocational Centre
CADS Vocational Centre has been established to provide individuals with learning difficulties within the biological age of 14 to 40 years old. The CADS Management Team which has the experience in educating students with learning difficulties in CADS Enhancement Centre was made responsible in making sure that CVC prepares individuals with learning difficulties be prepared with skills which can provide them with either job or business opportunity. This is crucial to ensure that they become individuals who are independent and able to make their own living in the future.
CADS Potential Development Centre (CADS Society) is a non-profit organisation, established in 2003 and registered with the Malaysian Registrar of Societies (Reg. No. 1659-03-5).
It was formed in 2003 by a group comprising parents, academics and individuals with an interest in the development of children with special educational needs.
CADS stands for “Cerebral Palsy, Autism, ADHD, Down Syndrome, Dyslexia, Slow Learners”.
CADS Society runs CADS Enhancement Centre (CEC) which is a holistic one stop special education centre that caters to the special educational needs of children with learning difficulties. CEC offers comprehensive curricular and co-curricular activities aimed at enhancing children’s intellectual, physical, social and emotional development.
CEC was first established in 1999 under The Nury Institute of Family and Child Development.

To establish a vocational centre where special needs people can learn vocational skills that can help them to be more productive citizens.

To equip children with learning difficulties with a balanced education by providing them with a learning support environment that would contribute to the individual child’s journey towards self-reliance, independence and expanded opportunities”.
Establishment of CADS Vocational Centre
The purpose of the new vocational centre is to give special needs students who are unable to further their academic education to be involved in business activities, which can support their livelihood and provide some purpose in life. This is in line with the mission of CADS, which endeavors to contribute toward “the individual child’s journey towards self-reliance, independence and expanded opportunities” (CADS Vision and Mission Statement)
CADS Vocational Centre (CVC) will provide an opportunity to initiate a vocation in baking/culinary arts, arts and craft, and packaging. The preliminary decision is to venture into the production of pastry products due to the growing market demand for them. This would allow for the achievement of the following objectives.
1. To provide special needs students a platform for future career development.
2. To provide communication skills training for special needs students.
3. To provide basic computer skills and entrepreneurial training.
4. To generate sufficient revenues that would strengthen the sources of internal funding and provide the opportunity
for reinvestment in the development of both CEC and CVC.
Collaboration with National Vocational Department
1. Discussion was made with National Vocational Department in regards to establishing the first vocational centre
accredited by the Ministry of Skills Malaysia for special students.
2. The management team attended the induction course for vocational centre.
Programme & Subjects Offered
The pastry course offered at CVC follows the Pastry NOSS ( National Occupational Skills Standard) set by the Ministry of Skills Malaysia. The syllabus will be revised and customized from time to time to suit the capabilities and needs of the special children.
Apart from the course on pastry, the management decided to offer the following subjects as an elective to complement the curriculum:
1. Computer skills
2. Group Occupational Therapy
3. Fardhu Ain ( Obligatory Islamic Studies )
4. Entrepreneur Skills Training
Centre Operating Hours
Monday-Friday: 8.30 a.m.- 4.00p.m.
Centre is closed during public and school holidays
Adult classes will be conducted in the afternoon/evening or during weekends subject to schedule which will be announced from time to time.
Premises and Facilities
A corner lot terrace house ( 8000 sqft) in Taman Melawati was rented to set up the CVC. Payment of rental commenced in November 2012. Installation of the pastry equipment commenced on 26th December and was completed on 5th January, 2013.
EDP and office equipment, tools and materials were purchased for the office and computer classes.
